Drone factory in India: RRP Defence has joined hands with French company CYGR to set up a new drone manufacturing unit in India. They plan to start this project with an investment of about $50 million, which is close to ₹430 crore in Indian money. This factory will come up in Navi Mumbai and will build advanced drones for use in defence, security, and industry. The idea is to mix French-American technology with India’s strong local production skills to make drones that suit India’s special needs.
RRP Defence said that these new drones will include small nano drones, ISR drones used for spying and intelligence, and even drones that are launched by hand and can fly like small planes. This will not only help India make its own drones for defence and homeland security, but also create jobs for skilled workers. The company hopes the factory will become a big part of India’s exports in the aerospace sector in the future.

RRP Defence’s Chairman, Rajendra Chodankar, said, “This collaboration is a defining moment for India’s UAV ecosystem. By combining our local manufacturing strength and field understanding with CYGR’s world-class drone technologies, we’re building systems that meet India’s unique operational needs” reported ET.
This facility is not just for making drones for India. It will also produce drones that can be sold to other countries. According to the company, they may increase the total investment to $100 million later as the demand grows. The partnership is part of the “Make in India” movement which pushes for more local production and less dependence on foreign imports in defence.
CYGR France Director, George El Aily, said, “Through this collaboration with RRP Defence Ltd, we are not only transferring technology, but also co-developing future-ready solutions that support India’s defence and surveillance landscape.”

A global advisor named Zaynah, who works on the “Make in India” mission, also shared that a Letter of Intent (LoI) has already been released. This is part of a $20 million defence export contract which shows that global demand for such systems is already building up. The team behind the project believes that this step will help place India as an important part of the global drone market. They also want to make India more self-reliant in defence tech.
This new move is expected to be a big boost for India’s UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) market. It brings together modern drone technology from overseas and India’s deep understanding of the local field and conditions.
