Republic Day 2026 S-400 Air Defence: India will show its powerful S-400 air defence missile system during the Republic Day parade on January 26 at Kartavya Path. This missile system became very important during last year’s military clash when it stopped enemy aircraft from entering Indian airspace.
An official statement said, “The S-400 air defence system, which played a significant role last year during Operation Sindoor intercepting the enemy aircrafts that entered Indian Airspace violating our Sovereignty will be part of Defence Ministry’s tableau during the Republic Day Parade this year on January 26.” This will allow people watching the parade to see a key defence weapon used to protect the country.

This year’s defence tableau will be based on Operation Sindoor and will represent the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force together. Another official release said, “The Tri-Services Tableau themed ‘Operation Sindoor’ commemorates the brave acts of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force during the intense military standoff of 2025.”
The tableau is meant to honor the hard work and courage of the armed forces during a difficult time for the nation. For many viewers, this will be a rare chance to see advanced defence equipment up close.
Why the S-400 is Special?
The S-400 system is known as one of the strongest air defence missile systems in the world. It can track and destroy enemy planes and missiles from long distances. According to another statement, “For the first time ever citizens can expect to see one of the world’s most lethal air defence missile system at the Saluting Base.”
During Operation Sindoor, this system helped stop enemy fighter jets that crossed into Indian airspace. Indian Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh also confirmed the system’s success by saying, “Several hostile aircraft were brought down” after they entered Indian territory.
