Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Russia follows several significant diplomatic exchanges between the two countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Russia twice earlier this year.
In October, PM Modi attended the BRICS Summit in Kazan and expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the people of Russia for their warm hospitality. In July, during the 22nd Russia-India Summit in Moscow, PM Modi received Russia’s highest national honor, “The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle,” in recognition of his contributions to strengthening India-Russia relations.
