Puttaparthi AMCA and Defence Manufacturing Event: Andhra Pradesh is getting ready for a very big defence event on May 15, 2026, in Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai district. The state government will host the foundation stone laying for the AMCA programme infrastructure and will also start several new defence, aerospace, and drone projects. A press release said the state will host a “landmark event” in Puttaparthi. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend the programme.
This event is being seen as an important step for Andhra Pradesh. The government wants the state to become a big centre for defence making, aerospace work, and unmanned systems like drones. The whole plan fits with the Centre’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat idea and its push to make more advanced defence items in India itself.

AMCA and Other Defence Projects
A major part of the event will be the AMCA showcase. AMCA means Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft. It is India’s own 5th generation stealth fighter project. It is being developed by DRDO and the Aeronautical Development Agency, also called ADA. The exhibition is expected to include scale models, mission simulations, avionics displays, systems displays, and interactive defence technology zones.
Along with the AMCA work, Andhra Pradesh will also see the start of several other defence manufacturing projects. These will cover missiles, ammunition, energetics, defence propellants, and advanced systems. The release says these projects together involve investments worth thousands of crores and should create many jobs in the state.
Drone City
The state will also put focus on its growing Drone City network. This includes companies working on autonomous systems, AI-enabled drones, UAV making, robotics, surveillance tech, aerospace parts, and drone research and development. The government says Andhra Pradesh has been building this base by using its roads, ports, skilled workers, and investor-friendly policies.
