What makes the M72 Special?

Company officials said the M72 is a “100% indigenous” weapon platform and that no foreign technology transfer was used, reported IDRW. The report also says the gun was fully designed, made, tested, and certified in India. SSS Defence says the M72 belongs to its wider line of Indian-made weapons, which also includes the G72 submachine gun, P72 assault rifle, Viper sniper rifle, and Saber sniper rifle.

The report says the “M” in M72 is a tribute to former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
