SCO Defence Ministers: During the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defense Ministers that took place in Astana on Friday, Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane emphasized the importance of adopting a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all of its forms.
During the SCO Defence Ministers meeting, the Secretary-General, the Director of the Executive Committee of the Organization’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), the Minister of Defense of Belarus, and the heads of the defense departments of the SCO member states attended the meeting, which took place in the context of Kazakhstan’s ongoing chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

According to Indian Express, at the summit, the defense ministers of all of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) signed a protocol. After the meeting, a Joint Communique was issued, in which the defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) agreed, among other initiatives, to develop the concept of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” This concept has its origins in the ancient Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” as stated in a statement released by the defense ministers.

According to the statement, the Secretary of Defense of India reaffirmed India’s unwavering dedication to preserving peace, stability, and security in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) region at the meeting.
He emphasized that there is a “need to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms for the prosperity and development of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”
Aramane brought up India’s proposal for a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations, which has been in the works for quite some time by now.
Additionally, he brought attention to the idea of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR), which is a scheme that India has suggested for the Indo-Pacific region.
The heads of the defense departments also agreed to strengthen cooperation between military-historical museums to support the operations of the armed forces of the organization’s member states, according to a statement from the Kazakh Ministry of Defense.
