India-US Plan for MH-60R Flee

India-US Plan for MH-60R Fleet: The Ministry of Defence in India has signed new Letters of Offer and Acceptance with the United States government to keep the Indian Navy’s MH-60R helicopters in good shape. The deal will run for five years and has a value of about Rs 7,995 crore. Officials signed this agreement in New Delhi during a meeting where Defence Secretary Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh was present.

The agreement comes under the US Foreign Military Sales programme and shows how the two countries continue to work together on defence needs.

 Plan to Improve Helicopter Performance

The new sustainment plan will bring many services to India. The package will send spare parts, support tools, and technical help for the helicopters. It will also bring product support and training for teams who work on these machines. The United States will help India repair and replace parts whenever needed. The plan will also build new “Intermediate” level repair centers and Periodic Maintenance Inspection facilities inside India. These centers will allow Indian workers to fix important parts and check the helicopters on a regular basis.

These new facilities in India will help the country depend less on outside help in the future. The project supports the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat goal, which tries to make the nation more self-reliant. The work will open doors for small and medium Indian companies, because these companies can join the supply chain and offer parts and services for defence work.

The support package will also help the MH-60R helicopters stay ready for missions at all times. These helicopters can fly in bad weather and carry out anti-submarine tasks, so the Navy needs them in good condition, reported News on air. With better support, the helicopters can fly from many different bases and from ships at sea.

Growing Defence Ties in India and US

This agreement shows that India and the United States continue to build a deeper defence partnership. By building repair and maintenance centers inside India, the Navy will depend less on foreign workshops and will save time. It will also strengthen the country’s own defence industry and make the Navy more ready for any challenge.

The MH-60R helicopter belongs to the Sikorsky MH-60 Seahawk family. It is a twin-engine aircraft that many countries use, including the U.S. Navy. The helicopter usually needs a crew of three or four people. It flies at a maximum speed of about 267 km/h and has a range of around 454 km.

The MH-60R version focuses on hunting submarines and surface threats by using strong digital sensors, dipping sonar, multi-mode radar, Hellfire missiles, and Mark 54 torpedoes. Another version called the MH-60S has a bigger cabin and works well for rescue missions, moving supplies, and mine clearing.
