India and New Zealand Ties: India and New Zealand have signed a big agreement to make their defense and security ties stronger. Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked with New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon about some groups in New Zealand that are doing illegal things against India. Both leaders want to stop these activities.
During their meeting, they discussed ways to improve their relationship, especially in areas like trade, defense, education, and farming. Modi said both countries have agreed to work together more closely on defense and security. They will also create a plan to cooperate in the defense industry. Modi talked about how both countries are against terrorism. He mentioned the 2019 Christchurch attack and the 2008 Mumbai attacks as examples of why terrorism is wrong.

“We both agree that terrorism is bad. Whether it’s the Christchurch attack on March 15, 2019, or the Mumbai attack on November 26, 2008, we cannot accept terrorism in any form,” Modi said.
Modi also said he is sure that New Zealand will keep working with India to stop illegal activities and radical groups. “We will keep working together to fight against terrorists, separatists, and radical groups. We also talked about our concerns regarding some illegal groups in New Zealand that are doing anti-India activities,” he added.
The two leaders also decided to start talks for a free trade agreement. Modi said this will help both countries trade and invest more in each other. “This will help us trade and invest more together. We will also work together in areas like dairy, food processing, and medicines,” he said.

Both leaders also talked about the Indo-Pacific region. They want it to be free, open, and safe. Modi said their focus is on development, not expansion. “We believe in development, not in expanding our power,” he said.
New Zealand’s Prime Minister Luxon said they discussed the challenges in the Indo-Pacific region. “I told Modi that we are committed to working together to address our shared concerns and to help make the Indo-Pacific region prosperous,” Luxon said.
