HFCL: On December 23, 2024, HFCL Limited, a leading technology company, launched its new defense equipment manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This marks a big step in supporting India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission, which aims to make the country self-reliant in defense production.
HFCL’s New Facility Inauguration
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable guests, including Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, the former head of DRDO and a scientific advisor to the Defense Minister. Dr. Reddy highlighted the importance of reducing imports and encouraged HFCL to focus on becoming a global exporter of high-quality defense products. Other dignitaries at the event included Dr. Chandrika Kaushik from DRDO and Lt. General Rajeev Sabherwal.

According to Smestreet, The Hosur facility is designed to manufacture advanced defense technologies such as Thermal Weapon Sights, Electronic Fuzes, High Capacity Radio Relay systems, and Surveillance Radars. These products are tailored to meet the needs of India’s armed forces. The factory is capable of producing large volumes annually, including 5,000 Thermal Weapon Sights and 250,000 Electronic Fuzes. This will not only address the critical needs of the armed forces but also contribute to expanding India’s defense exports.
The facility features advanced clean rooms to maintain high-quality production standards. HFCL is committed to creating innovative and reliable products that meet the rigorous demands of modern military operations.
Mr. Mahendra Nahata, Managing Director of HFCL, expressed pride in inaugurating the new facility. He said it represents their dedication to innovation and national progress. He also emphasized that this facility would help provide world-class defense technologies, enabling the armed forces to perform their missions with greater efficiency and confidence.
The Thermal Weapon Sights produced at the facility offer exceptional performance in various environments. They are compatible with small arms like rifles, light machine guns, and rocket launchers and feature high-resolution imaging and extended battery life.

HFCL’s Electronic Fuzes are built with advanced safety mechanisms and programmable features to ensure precision. The High Capacity Radio Relay systems provide secure and high-speed communication even in tough conditions, while the Surveillance Radars are designed to quickly detect threats such as moving vehicles and drones, making them ideal for border security and perimeter monitoring.
