GRSE and K2 Cranes:Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd, known as GRSE, has made a new deal with a private company called K2 Cranes & Components Pvt Ltd. This agreement is about designing and making cranes used for ships, defence needs and shipyard work. The deal was signed in Kolkata on January 28, 2026.

Details of the MoU
The deal was signed by Cmde M S Ramesh Menon, IN (Retd), who works as Chief General Manager at GRSE, and Mr. M Udayakumar, who is the Managing Director of K2 Cranes & Components Pvt Ltd. Many top officers from GRSE came to the event to support the agreement.
Those present included Cmde P R Hari, IN (Retd), the Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE, Cdr Shantanu Bose, IN (Retd), Director of Shipbuilding, Capt (IN) P Sunilkumar (Retd), Director of Corporate Planning and Personnel, and Mr. Niranjan Bhalerao, Director of Finance. Senior team members from both companies were also there to show their support.
This partnership fits well with the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, Make for the World goals. All the cranes and equipment under this deal will be made in India. This means the country will depend less on buying such machines from other countries. The two companies also plan to sell these products to other nations, which can help India grow its exports and build a stronger name in defence and marine engineering.

GRSE and K2 Cranes will work together to find new business in India and other countries. They will focus on cranes used in defence projects, ports, and shipyards. This teamwork is expected to bring good business for both companies and also make India stronger in defence manufacturing.
GRSE is best known for building warships for the Indian Navy. At the same time, it has also grown in other areas. The company is the biggest maker of modular steel bridges in India. So far, it has supplied more than 5,900 bridges in India and other countries. Along with this GRSE also makes deck machines and other heavy engineering items.
