AMCA Fighter Jet: India has taken a big step to make its own powerful fighter jet for the future. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the working model for starting the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft project, which is also called AMCA. This project will help the Indian Air Force get a fifth-generation fighter jet that can fly deep into enemy areas and carry strong weapons.

The Aeronautical Development Agency, or ADA, will lead the project, and they will work with Indian companies to make it happen. The Defence Ministry said clearly, “Rajnath Singh has approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Programme Execution Model. Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) is set to execute the programme through Industry partnership.”

The goal of this plan is to use the skills and knowledge already present in India. With this move, India wants to become more self-reliant in defence technology, especially in the aircraft sector. This aircraft is expected to have special features like stealth, advanced radar systems, and an internal place to carry weapons. It will be a big step forward for the Indian Air Force. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Cabinet Committee on Security had already said yes to this fighter jet project last year, though they had only given an early approval at that time.

The total cost to build the first version of this new fighter jet is expected to be around Rs 15,000 crore. The Indian Air Force has been supporting this plan for a long time because they will need these kinds of jets in the future. The idea got a major boost after India successfully made the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, which showed that the country could build good fighter planes on its own.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has already said that it wants to finish the AMCA by the year 2035, reports CNBC TV18. Dr Samir V Kamat, the DRDO Chairman, had said earlier this year that they are committed to delivering the aircraft by that time.

Right now, Indian companies can take part in the AMCA project by bidding for the work. The official statement said, “They can bid either independently or as a joint venture, or as a consortium. The entity/bidder should be an Indian company compliant with the laws and regulations of the country.” This means only Indian companies that follow Indian rules can take part, and they can work alone or with partners.
