Adani Shivpuri Missile Project: Adani Defence & Aerospace has started a huge new project in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. On Sunday, the company laid the foundation stone for what it called South Asia’s largest private-sector integrated missile manufacturing ecosystem. The project cost is ₹2,500 crore. It is expected to create about 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. The company says this will also help India make more of its own defence goods and rely less on imports.
Jeet Adani said the new site will be the first private-sector ecosystem in South Asia to bring the full missile making chain together in one place, from raw materials to mission-ready missile systems. He said the plant will make medium- and long-range missile systems. It will also include composite propellant making, TNT production, and explosive-grade material manufacturing. The project is planned to finish in about three years.

How the New Plant will Help India?
The company says the new facility will be a strong step for India’s defence self-reliance. Jeet Adani linked the project to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. He also said Adani Defence is working with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Armed Forces to support local defence production and cut import dependence.
The new ecosystem is also expected to help build a special defence supply chain. More than 50 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will be brought into the project. That means smaller businesses will also get work connected to the defence unit. Reports also say the plant may help boost local industry around Shivpuri and nearby districts.
Adani’s Push in Madhya Pradesh
Jeet Adani also spoke about the group’s wider plans in the state. He said Gautam Adani had announced investments of ₹1.10 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh during the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal last year. These plans cover hydro pumped storage, cement, mining, smart meters, and thermal energy. The group expects these investments to help create 1.2 lakh jobs by 2030.
He added that Adani Group has already put more than ₹4,000 crore into its Ametha and Kymor cement plants in Katni district. Adani Power is already supplying 1,200 MW of electricity to Madhya Pradesh, and another 5,600 MW is still being built.
The company has also set up wind energy projects in Lahori, Dhar, Ratlam, and Ujjain. It is also planning a new cement plant in Ujjain. Jeet Adani said the recently started ₹1,060 crore cement project in Guna is the biggest industrial investment ever in that district.

He also pointed to the company’s defence work in Gwalior, where its existing facility already makes its full range of Light Machine Guns, assault rifles, and carbines. According to him, Adani has delivered 2,000 Light Machine Guns to the Indian Armed Forces 11 months ahead of schedule. With the new Shivpuri missile unit, he said the two sites will become twin centres of defence innovation in Madhya Pradesh.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Energy Minister Pradyumna Singh Tomar, senior officials, and industry representatives.
