US $275 Million to Ukraine: Two US sources indicate that while Kyiv battles to fend off Russian advances in the Kharkiv region, the US is set to announce an additional $275 million in military assistance for Ukraine on Friday.
With the Biden administration promising to keep weapons coming regularly and deliver them to the front lines as soon as possible, this will be the fourth tranche of military aid for Ukraine since Congress enacted a long-delayed foreign aid measure late last month.
According to Economic times, the two U.S. officials said the package contains high mobility artillery rocket systems, or HIMARS, as well as high-demand artillery rounds in 155 mm and 105 millimeter. Before the official release, they discussed specifics of the aid plan under anonymity.
It comes after a Monday meeting of over 50 defence officials from Europe and other countries who convene frequently to plan the delivery of additional military support to Ukraine. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin declared at this most recent conference that Russia’s fresh assault on Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine, was putting Ukraine in a “moment of challenge.” He promised to continue shipments of weaponry “week after week.”

Russia has battered its civilian regions and electricity grid, pushing Ukrainian forces behind in certain spots.
Since President Joe Biden signed the $95 billion foreign aid package, which included roughly $61 billion for Ukraine, the United States has declared and begun delivering nearly $1.7 billion in weaponry taken from Pentagon stockpiles.
Additionally disclosed is $6 billion in assistance via the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. Since that covers longer-term contracts with the defense sector, the weapons may not arrive for several months or years.
With this most recent package, the US has already given Ukraine military support worth over $51 billion since Russia invaded in February 2022.
