US Deal with Israel: The Biden administration has informed Congress about a proposed $8 billion arms sale to Israel, showing the U.S. support for its ally during the Gaza conflict. The sale includes military equipment like missiles for fighter jets and helicopters, artillery shells, small bombs, and warheads.
According to Reuters, the package comprises AIM-120C-8 air-to-air missiles for drone defense, 155mm artillery shells, Hellfire AGM-114 missiles, and $6.75 billion worth of bombs and advanced guidance systems. Some of the munitions may be supplied from existing U.S. stockpiles, but the majority will require years for manufacturing and delivery.

This arms deal, which needs approval from the House of Representatives and Senate committees, is part of a broader U.S. strategy to counter Iran-backed groups, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
President Biden has stated that Israel has a right to defend its citizens under international and humanitarian law, emphasizing the U.S. commitment to providing Israel with necessary defense capabilities. The proposed sale follows a previous $20 billion arms package approved in August 2024.
Gaza Conflict
The conflict in Gaza has attracted widespread international criticism due to its severe humanitarian impact. As per WIOnews, the Gaza health ministry reports over 45,000 deaths among the 2.3 million population, with 52% being women and children. The area is completely blocked, and essential supplies like fuel and water are not allowed to enter, making the humanitarian crisis even worse.
2025 Year of Defence Reforms with Focus on Theaterisation
The U.S. has spent nearly $17.9 billion on military aid to Israel since the war began following Hamas’s October 7 attack, which killed 1,139 Israelis. This military support has sparked protests domestically and internationally, but the U.S.-Israel strategic alliance remains a cornerstone of American foreign policy in the region. The Biden administration continues to justify its stance by highlighting the need to ensure regional stability and counteract threats posed by adversarial groups.
