Russian UAV Technology: A wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that are ready for export abroad have been showcased by Russian company Rosoboronexport. They provide the Orlan-10E and Orlan-30 reconnaissance UAVs, the Kub-E loitering munition, and other cutting-edge equipment in addition to the Orion reconnaissance/strike UAV.
Company executives claim that because Russian UAVs are flexible and have developed through real-world experience in high-stress combat scenarios against sophisticated air defence systems, they have a clear competitive edge. Russia’s export plans are unique in that they are very transparent about technical collaboration, which makes their UAVs and counter-UAV systems more attractive.
Russian UAV Technology
Unmanned systems are becoming more and more popular worldwide, especially in the Middle East and Gulf nations. Officials from the firm said, “We are not just selling UAVs; we are looking into joint ventures and service centres on customer property, in line with regional requirements, and local production and technology transfer.”
It goes on, “Russia has experience with both hard kill (electronic warfare) and soft kill (ground counter-UAV) technologies, in addition to UAVs. These are made to defend against a variety of UAV threats, ranging from little drones to more advanced ones.

Orlan-30
2023 saw the release of the Orlan-30 UAV system for export, which was a significant development. Day or night, the Orlan-30—a refined version of the popular Orlan-10E—performs superbly in target identification, aerial reconnaissance, and precision-guided missile deployment. Potential buyers in the area expressed a great deal of interest in it after its debut at the Dubai Airshow in 2023.
In addition to their primary function, Orlan UAVs are also utilised for electronic warfare against adversarial UAVs, especially when working in tandem with ground-based EW systems. Effective counteraction against swarms and individual drones is made possible.
Regarding interest in the Orion-E long endurance reconnaissance/strike drone from other countries, we are hopeful. Acclaimed for its open architecture and modular design, it allows for flexibility in mission payloads and works well in a range of operating situations, according to authorities.
Additionally, it is expected to make substantial progress in the worldwide market with the Kub-E loitering munition, which is renowned for its adaptability in attacking both single and group targets.”ROSOBORONEXPORT’s collaborative strategy demonstrates Russia’s dedication to enhancing international defence capabilities via joint technological advancements.”
