According to officials on Wednesday, Ukraine shot down 19 of the 20 Russian-launched Shahed drones during an overnight strike that left residential structures in the Black Sea port of Odesa damaged and three persons injured.

According to the Ukrainian military, Odesa and other southern districts were the focus of the Russian onslaught for a minimum of three hours. According to the Interior Ministry, drone debris damaged a dozen cars, a gas pipe, and residential buildings in one of the port’s neighborhoods. It also said that roughly 130 people were evacuated and three people were injured.

“Main efforts of the enemy were concentrated on attacks on Odesa. The kamikaze drones entered at a critically low altitude from the Black Sea,” the South military command said in a statement, adding that 11 drones were downed in Odesa.

Since pulling out of an agreement mediated by the United Nations that permitted safe passage of Ukrainian grain supplies by sea, Moscow has made repeated attempts to attack infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern Black Sea ports.
