Iran Strike on U.S. Warship: A dramatic claim has come from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, also called the IRGC. Iranian officials said their forces carried out a major attack on a United States naval ship in open waters of the Indian Ocean.
According to Iranian statements, the attack happened while the American warship was refueling from a tanker ship far from Iran’s coastline. Iranian officials said the strike took place more than 600 kilometers away from Iran’s borders. Tehran described the strike as a “powerful strike” and claimed the missiles caused “widespread fires” on the vessels.
Iranian media reports said the operation used two types of missiles. These were the “Ghadr-380” medium range ballistic missile and the “Talaieh” strategic cruise missile. Iranian officials claimed the weapons successfully hit the target and damaged the ship during the strike.

What are ‘Ghadr-380’ and ‘Talaieh’ Missiles?
The missiles mentioned in the reports are part of Iran’s growing missile program. The “Ghadr-380” is described as a medium range ballistic missile. Ballistic missiles travel very high into the sky before falling down toward their targets at high speed. These missiles are designed to travel long distances and hit military targets such as ships, bases or infrastructure.
The second weapon mentioned in the reports is the “Talaieh” cruise missile. Cruise missiles fly differently from ballistic missiles. They travel closer to the ground or sea surface and move toward the target using guidance systems. Because they fly low they can sometimes avoid radar detection.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the country now has “complete control” over the Strait of Hormuz. This narrow waterway is one of the most important routes for global oil shipments. A large amount of the world’s oil and gas moves through this passage every day.
Iranian officials also claimed more than ten oil tankers were struck after they ignored warnings from Iranian forces. Reports also mentioned drone and missile attacks targeting American bases in Erbil and Kuwait.
Iranian forces warned that ships trying to cross the strait could face danger. According to the statement, vessels passing through the area may be hit by missiles or even stray drones during the conflict. The warning quickly raised concern across global markets because many countries depend on energy supplies that pass through this route.
In response to the rising tension, US President Donald Trump said the US Navy is ready to escort oil tankers traveling through the Gulf shipping corridor.
Israeli Airstrikes in Tehran
At the same time, Israel continued its air campaign against Iran. The Israeli military said it launched another wave of strikes targeting multiple locations in Tehran.
Officials said the operation hit “dozens” of sites across the Iranian capital. These targets reportedly included security command centers and other facilities linked to Iran’s military structure.
An AFP journalist in Tehran reported hearing a loud explosion in the northeastern part of the city as the attacks took place. The strikes mark another stage in the ongoing military confrontation between the two countries.
