Aviation Minister: India will need 30,000 new pilots in the next 15 to 20 years, said Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Tuesday. He shared this during an event where the Aero Club of India and Sakthi Aircraft Industries signed an agreement to order 200 trainer aircraft.
The minister explained that Indian airlines are growing fast and have ordered more than 1,700 new planes. Right now, there are over 800 aircraft in the country. To fly all these planes, India will need many more pilots. Currently, there are only 6,000 to 7,000 working pilots.

“We are working together to make the aviation industry stronger,” said Naidu. He also mentioned that the government is checking 38 Flying Training Organizations (FTOs) to see how good they are. These organizations will be given ratings based on their performance.
The minister also talked about making India a global center for pilot training. “We want India to become a hub for training pilots,” he said.
India’s aviation market is growing very quickly, and the government is taking steps to support this growth. One of these steps includes planning to have special airports for cargo and training purposes.
