ICOMM-CARACAL to Make 200 CSR 338 Sniper Rifles for CRPF

Abu Dhabi’s Caracal and Hyderabad’s ICOMM will build 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles for CRPF in India. The project supports Make in India, creates local jobs, and strengthens defence manufacturing.

CSR 338 Rifles

CSR 338 Sniper Rifles: Abu Dhabi company Caracal, which makes strong and modern small guns, has joined with Icomm Tele Ltd in Hyderabad to give 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles to India’s Central Reserve Police Force. Icomm is part of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL). The two sides already started work together earlier this year when they opened a new gun factory in Hyderabad.

The rifles will not come from outside, they will be made here in India at the Icomm Caracal Small Arms Complex. This factory opened in April and has become a new place for building advanced weapons. The plan is to make guns for India’s Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and even make weapons for selling to other countries.

Make in India

The boss of Caracal, Hamad Alameri, said, “Following the launch of the Icomm Caracal Small Arms Complex, we are advancing our partnership with Icomm and solidifying our commitment to Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India initiative.” He said the company is serious about working in India and making weapons here.

Sumanth Paturu, the Director of Icomm, also shared his thoughts. He said, “This contract is a proud milestone for Icomm and a validation of our long-term strategy to build sovereign defence capabilities in India.” He explained that this project is not only about giving sniper rifles to CRPF but also about teaching new technology, opening jobs for people in Hyderabad, and making India strong in defence industry.

Sumanth Paturu added, “This is not just about supplying rifles. It’s about building India’s defence strength, creating skilled jobs, and bringing cutting-edge technology to Hyderabad.”

First Rifles to Come in 2025

The rifle they are making, CSR 338, is a very powerful and accurate bolt-action sniper gun. It is made for reliability and precision, which means it can be trusted in the field. The first rifles made in India will reach CRPF in the last part of 2025.

MEIL, the parent company of Icomm, is mostly known for building large projects like roads and infrastructure across India and outside, reported ET. But now MEIL is stepping strongly into the defence side. With this new contract, MEIL is showing its support for Prime Minister Modi’s Make in India vision and is making Hyderabad one of the important places for defence work.
