LSAM 16: According to the authorities, a private company built the sixth barge in the LSAM 16 (Yard 130) series on Monday in Thane, which is in the state of Maharashtra.
Furthermore, the officials stated that the barge would be of assistance to the Navy in expediting the transit of products and ammunition to ships.
“The launch of ‘Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barge, LSAM 20 (Yard 130)’, 6th Barge of 11 x ACTCM Barge Project, built by MSME Shipyard, Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane for Indian Navy, was undertaken on April 29 at Suryadipta Project Pvt. Ltd. (launch site of SPPL),” the Ministry of Defence stated in a statement that was issued officially.
As per ANI, Madhusudan Bhui, INAS, General Manager of the Nasik Area Development (Karanja) presided over the inauguration ceremony.
On March 5, 2021, the Ministry of Defense and Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane, went through the process of signing a contract for the construction of eleven ACTCM barges.
According to the ministry, the availability of these barges would provide a boost to the operational responsibilities of the Indian Navy. This would be accomplished by making it easier for the Indian Navy to transfer, embark, and disembark items or ammunition from its ships, both beside jetties and at outer harbours.

By the pertinent Naval Rules and Regulations of the Indian Register of Shipping, these barges have been designed and constructed by the Indian people.
The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam was the location where the model testing of the barge was carried out throughout the design phase. According to the Defense Ministry, the Government of India (GoI) is proud to have these barges represent the “Make in India” project.
