Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi: Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi addressed top naval commanders on Tuesday 8th April, stressing seven important areas to improve the Navy’s strength and efficiency. These include warfighting skills, building more ships and submarines, better maintenance of fleets, and smoother supply chains for operations.

Speaking at the Naval Commanders’ Conference in Delhi, Admiral Tripathi also talked about the need for new technology, training sailors for future challenges, faster decision-making, and working closely with other government agencies.

According to Hindustan Times, he praised the Navy for staying battle-ready through successful drills, keeping ships and submarines operational, and conducting joint exercises with the Army and Air Force. He also mentioned the Navy’s role in supporting India’s shipbuilding industry and encouraging innovation.

New Plans for Space and Data Use

During the conference, Admiral Tripathi released two important documents. The first, Indian Navy Space Vision 2025-40, explains how the Navy will use space technology to support operations over the next 15 years.

The second document, Indian Navy Operational Data Framework, focuses on using data to make smarter decisions in missions.

On Monday, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said India will soon introduce a military space doctrine. Earlier, during the first part of the conference in Karnataka’s Karwar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India supports a free and fair Indo-Pacific region. He asked the Navy to stay alert to changes in the area, as India plays a big role in keeping peace.

Without naming China, Singh added that the Indian Navy ensures no country in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) bullies others because of its economic or military power.

Navy’s Big Plans for the Future

The conference comes at a time when the Indian Navy is working hard to become fully self-reliant by 2047. It is also strengthening its presence in the IOR and preparing for major purchases, including new fighter jets and submarines.

India is close to finalizing two deals with France one for 26 Rafale-M fighter jets for aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, and another for three more Scorpene-class submarines. These will boost the Navy’s combat strength.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also spoke at the conference, explaining how shifting global politics affects international relations. He discussed how these changes impact India’s role in the world. The Indian Navy either way continues to focus on modernizing its forces, staying prepared for challenges, and protecting India’s interests at sea.
