Vice Chief of Army Staff Visits IIT Kanpur to Explore Defence Collaborations

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, is enhancing its defense capabilities through advanced technological solutions.

IIT Kanpur Defence: Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, who serves as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), paid a visit to the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). Army leaders and faculty members from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur met to discuss various defence-related themes, with a particular emphasis on exploring prospective collaborations for the development of specialized technological solutions for the Indian Army.

The faculty also presented the ongoing defence projects that are being carried out at the institute.

Additionally, ADG Major General CS Mann and other high-ranking army officers were present to accompany Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi.

Sanjay Tandon, the director of the DRDO Industry Academia Centre of Excellence at the Indian Institute of Technological Kanpur, provided a more in-depth explanation of the centre’s goal to create an ecosystem for focused research and collaboration in advanced technological fields for defence and security.

According to Careers360, the faculty members showcased a variety of innovations, including quadruped and rotating robots, generators for precise guidance kits, high-altitude logistics and electric vertical takeoff and landing solutions, and kamikaze drones.

Three defence-technology businesses were nurtured at IIT Kanpur that demonstrated their advances. At the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, the Army representatives also went to the C3i Hub and the FlexE Center.
