Indian Army Raising Day: Pune, April 1, 2025: The Southern Command of the Indian Army marked its 131st Raising Day with great respect and joy at the Pune Military Station. Soldiers and civilian staff came together to remember the brave heroes who served the nation.

According to Punekar News, Lieutenant General SP Singh, a highly decorated officer with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Yudh Seva Medal, led the celebrations. As the Chief of Staff of Southern Command, he placed a wreath at the Southern Command War Memorial on behalf of all soldiers. Many serving officers and Civil Defence Staff joined him in paying tribute.

Southern Command is the oldest and largest command in the Indian Army. It protects a huge area covering 11 states and four union territories. The command also plays a big role in making India stronger by supporting defence manufacturing within the country.

This year, the celebrations included a special event called ‘Echoes of Valour’, which started on March 29, 2025. Every Saturday, people can enjoy a thrilling band performance along with a sound and laser show at the Command War Memorial. This event helps the public learn about the brave history of Southern Command.

On Raising Day, the war memorial stayed open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM for visitors. Many came to honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. The day was filled with pride, respect, and gratitude for the heroes of Southern Command.
