Date details matter here. June 4, 2026 was the Su-30MKI landing. October 8, 2025 was the day PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport. December 25, 2025 was when NMIA began commercial operations. October 11, 2024 was when the airport welcomed its first aircraft, the IAF C-295. NMIA’s official material says the airport has a 3,700-metre runway and is built with modern air traffic control and passenger facilities. It is also planned as a major airport for the Mumbai region, with Phase 1 meant to handle 20 million passengers a year.
