BBBS Delivers First Batch of Vajra Sentinel Anti-Drone Systems to Air Force

Big Bang Boom Solutions has delivered the first batch of its fully indigenous Vajra Sentinel Systems to the Indian Air Force, marking a major milestone in India’s self-reliant defence technology journey.

Vajra Sentinel Systems: India has taken a strong step forward in defence with the delivery of the first batch of the Vajra Sentinel Systems. This new counter-unmanned aerial system, or C-UAS, has been made by Big Bang Boom Solutions (BBBS) and is now officially with the Indian Air Force. It is a proud moment because this system is fully developed in India, with over five years of hard work, research, and field testing. It performed better than other systems from both India and abroad during user testing and passed everything on the first try, which is not something that happens often. The system also got full approval from the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance, which adds to its trust and strength.

The Vajra Sentinel played an important role during Operation Sindoor, a mission that happened when border tensions were high. The Indian Army and Air Force needed help quickly to deal with more drone threats coming from other countries. BBBS moved fast and provided the system during this time. It worked very well and destroyed many dangerous drones. Because of this, its value in real-world defence has become even clearer.

According to Business World, BBBS CTO Dr R. Shivaraman said, “It’s a proud moment for us at BBBS to have contributed to national defence.” He explained that this system was built under the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX Challenge and shows that India is becoming stronger in making its own defence technology.

Vajra Sentinel Systems: Made in India Focus

BBBS CEO Praveen Dwarakanath shared how big this moment is, not just as a product delivery but as a sign of what India can do. He said, “This is a testament to India’s growing capability to develop and deploy state-of-the-art defence systems without foreign dependence. Indigenous systems offer better adaptability, lifecycle control, and freedom from geopolitical restrictions.” This means India does not need to buy expensive defence systems from other countries anymore and can change or improve things when needed.

The Indian Air Force and Indian Army had given BBBS a ₹200 crore order in 2024 to deliver this new system. The Vajra Sentinel is built just for what India needs and really goes well with the whole Atmanirbhar Bharat idea. It means India wants to stand on its own feet and not keep buying important defence stuff from other countries all the time. This system helps the country depend less on others and also saves a lot of money in the long run.

BBBS also built a new high-tech factory in Chennai to make these systems on a larger scale. This factory is now working fully and can make more than 100 units every month. It works in two shifts every day so it can keep up with the rising demand from both India and outside countries.

After using the Vajra Sentinel during Operation Sindoor, BBBS is now improving it even more based on what they learned from the mission. The company says it will keep working hard to bring more new defence ideas made by Indians for India.
