Lockheed Martin, in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems Limited, announced plans to establish a C-130J Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in India alongside the expansion of C-130J manufacturing. This move supports the Indian Air Force’s acquisition for Medium Transport Aircraft. The announcement was made during the 10th edition of the India Suppliers Conference held in Bengaluru and inaugurated by Priyank Mallikarjun Kharge, Karnataka’s Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology.
At the conference, Rossell India Limited was honored as an Outstanding Supplier by the Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Global Supply Chain Organization. This recognition was for their timely support and customer-focused approach in accommodating numerous engineering changes critical to the MH-60R program. Veer-O-Metals was also commended for their exceptional responsiveness and commitment to the RMS Global Supply Chain Organization’s success.
Lockheed Martin’s partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Limited aims to expand their business relationship, focusing on the C-130J Super Hercules tactical airlifter. The agreement outlines a framework for potential collaboration including establishing an MRO facility in India and expanding C-130J manufacturing to support the IAF’s Medium Transport Aircraft program. Since its inception in 2010, the joint venture, Tata Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Ltd. (TLMAL), has achieved notable milestones, reinforcing the ‘Make in India’ initiative and producing over 220 C-130J empennages to date.
