Ministry of Defence Issues RFP to HAL for light combat helicopters, Boosting ‘Make in India’ Campaign

HAL light combat helicopters: The Ministry of Defence has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) for the purchase of 156 light combat helicopters (LCH), supporting the ‘Make in India’ campaign and bolstering domestic defense industry.

Due to the announcement, HAL shares increased by more than 4.3% to Rs 5,427 in early trade on Tuesday. The HAL stock increased 4.62% on Monday.

In a regulatory filing, HAL stated, “We would like to inform that the Ministry of Defence has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the procurement of 156 Light Combat Helicopters (90 for the Indian Army and 66 for the Indian Air Force (IAF).”

The Indian Air Force and the Indian Army will use the tender to purchase helicopters, with an expected value of between Rs. 45,000 crore and Rs. 50,000 crore.

The total amount of money that HAL made in Q4 FY24 was Rs 4308.68 crore, up 52.19% from Q4 FY23’s Rs 2,831.19 crore.

Operations brought in Rs 14,788.75 crore during the quarter, which is 18.36% more than the same time last year. The Ministry of Defense’s decision to buy 156 light combat helicopters supports Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s goal of making Indian defense manufacturing more self-sufficient.

After taking office in the new BJP-led NDA administration this month, Minister Singh declared, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will aim to further strengthen the country’s security apparatus, with a focus on achieving self-reliance in defence manufacturing.”
