DRDO MoU with Kanpur Textile Institute: The Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment, or DMSRDE, in Kanpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uttar Pradesh Textile Technology Institute, also in Kanpur. DMSRDE works under DRDO, and the new agreement is meant to bring the two groups together for shared research in textile science and technology. The work will support both defence use and normal civilian use too.
The MoU was exchanged at the UPTTI campus. Dr. Kingsuk Mukhopadhyay, who is the Director of DMSRDE, and Prof. (Dr.) G Nalankilli, the Director of UPTTI, signed the agreement. The event was held with Shri Amit Saraiya, Scientist “F”, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, Dr. Supriyo Chakraborty, and other senior officers from both sides present there.

What the Agreement Will Do
This partnership is meant to help both institutions work side by side instead of working alone. The plan is to share research ideas, technical knowledge, scientific materials, and important lab tools. It will also allow joint research projects, which can help both teams build better textile materials for future needs.
The focus is not only on defence. The two organisations also want to build textile products that can be useful in daily civilian life. That means the same research may help make stronger, smarter, and more advanced fabrics for more than one purpose.

Why is this Important?
This MoU is a small but important step between defence research and college-level textile knowledge. DMSRDE brings defence science and testing strength. UPTTI brings textile learning and academic skill. When both sides work together, they can move faster on new ideas and turn them into real products. it’s basically a bridge between the lab and the classroom.
