BEL Deal for Indian Army Tech: The Ministry of Defence has signed a new deal with Bharat Electronics Limited, Hyderabad, for five ground-based Mobile Electronic Systems for the Indian Army. The deal is worth Rs 1,476 crore and the systems will have at least 72% indigenous content. The contract was signed under the “Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)” category at Kartavya Bhawan-2 in New Delhi, in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh.
These systems are made to help the Army with electronic warfare, surveillance, and safe tactical communication. In simple words, they are mobile military tools that can help detect and track enemy signals and give soldiers a clearer picture of what is happening on the battlefield. BEL already makes similar indigenous defence products, including mobile ground-based ELINT systems and secure communication systems.
