Who is Prerna Deosthalee? First Woman to Command an Indian Navy Warship

Who is Prerna Deosthalee? The Indian Navy is getting ready to name its first woman officer to lead a warship. The Indian Navy has made Commander Prerna Deosthalee the first woman officer to command an Indian Naval Warship. This is in line with the Indian Armed Forces’ goal to give all of its members chances, regardless of caste, creed, religion, or gender.

Deosthalee got her employment letter from Rear Admiral Praveen Nair, who is in charge of the Western Fleet and is currently the First Lieutenant on the warship INS Chennai. She has been chosen to be the leader of the Waterjet FAC INS Trinkat in the Western Fleet of the Indian Navy.

Lieutenant Commander Prerana was the first woman to work as an observer on the maritime reconnaissance aircraft Tupolev Tu-142. She had already worked as an observer on the surveillance aircraft P8I.

Lt. Cdr. Prerana Deosthalee is from Mumbai and went to school at the Convent of Jesus and Mary. She has a master’s degree in psychology from St. Xavier’s College. She joined the Indian Navy in 2009 and comes from a family of sailors; her brother is also in the Navy.

This Lt. Cdr. is married to a naval officer and has a girl who is three years old. This statement fits with the Indian Armed Forces’ policy of letting women serve in “all roles and all ranks.”
