INS Sindhukesari Visit to Colombo: The Indian Navy submarine INS Sindhukesari arrived at Colombo port on 3 May 2026 for an operational turnaround. The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed it with full naval honours, and the visit was described as part of the steady naval cooperation between the two countries.
In very simple words, an operational turnaround is a short and useful stop. The submarine gets support, supplies, and rest for its crew. This helps it stay ready for duty and keeps it useful for future missions in the region.

The visit is meant to make the two navies work better together. It is also linked to a safer and more secure Indian Ocean Region. The Indian Navy said the visit was about improving cooperation, and the report carried this line: “The Indian Navy’s submarine INS Sindhukesari visited Colombo, #SriLanka, reinforcing the growing maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka towards a safer & more secure Indian Ocean Region. The visit aimed at enhancing interoperability & operational synergy with Sri Lanka Navy.”
During the stay, the submarine crew is expected to take part in naval interaction programs and also visit some places in Sri Lanka. These visits and meetings help both sides build trust and understand each other better.
