India Weapon Export: India is not staying only a buyer in the defence world anymore. It is slowly turning into a seller too. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently said, “India could become the world’s largest arms exporter in the next 25 to 30 years.” India’s defence exports have already grown fast. The Ministry of Defence said exports reached a record ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024-25, and a later ministry release in April 2026 said the figure had touched ₹38,424 crore.

The big reason behind this rise is the steady push for local production. The government has kept adding support for domestic defence making under “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Make in India”. Rajnath Singh has also said India’s defence products are now being exported to about 100 countries. Official updates from 2025 also said India had export orders and supply links spread across a wide global network.

Indian defence goods are now going to many countries. Official government statements name the USA, France and Armenia as the top three export destinations in 2023-24. Another official update said Indian defence equipment went to nearly 80 countries in FY 2024-25 and more than 80 countries in FY 2025-26. So the buyer list is getting longer, not shorter.
Some of the most talked-about deals are with the Philippines and Armenia. The Philippines signed a contract with BrahMos Aerospace for the shore-based anti-ship missile system in January 2022. In January 2026, an official PIB release also said Raksha Mantri had flagged off the first tranche of guided Pinaka rockets for Armenia. These deals helped Indian weapons get more attention outside the country.

Indian weapons are not limited to one kind of buyer. The country is exporting ammunition, systems, subsystems and parts. DD News reported that Indian defence exports went to nearly 80 countries in FY 2024-25, while the Defence Ministry later said the number was more than 80 countries in FY 2025-26. The export base also widened, with the number of exporters rising in the latest official release.
The bigger story is simple. India is building more of its own defence gear and sending more of it abroad. Systems like BrahMos, HAL Tejas, Pinaka, Akash and other indigenous platforms are now part of that growing export picture. The country is still far from being the biggest exporter in the world, but the pace of growth is strong and the direction is clear
