Armoured Vehicles Nigam: Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited which is also called AVANI, wants to sell more of its tanks and army machines to other countries. The company is now searching for partners in Africa, West Asia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. With the help of these partners AVANI hopes to send not just the vehicles but also spare parts and give repair and service help to armies outside India.
AVANI builds some of India’s most known defence machines. It makes the Arjun main battle tank, the Russian-made T-90 tank, and also carriers for soldiers like the BMP-2. The company also sells spare parts for many old Russian vehicles, so that other nations who use them can keep them working, reported TOI. It even makes naval guns and something called Kavach which is a protection system used by warships. The Indian gov wants defence exports to rise every year and AVANI’s plan fits into that idea.

Export Rising
AVANI is not working alone. It is one of seven new companies that came when the old Ordnance Factory Board was split up. All of them are now trying to push exports much harder than before. In 2019-20 the total exports of these companies were only Rs 81 crore. But in the 2024-25 the number touched over Rs 3,545 crore. Most of this money came from selling ammunition and explosives abroad. One company, Munitions India Limited, earned almost Rs 3,000 crore by itself in exports last year.

AVANI is also growing fast. It has become a “Miniratna Category-I” company, which gives it more power to make deals. The company already makes 100% of the engines for T-90, BMP-II and other vehicles inside India, so it no longer needs to depend on imports for those parts.
