Lockheed Martin Poland Apache: Lockheed Martin is now working with Poland’s Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr 1 S.A., also called WZL-1, to help keep Poland’s future AH-64E Apache helicopters ready for work. This comes after Poland signed a deal to get 96 AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters.
A new repair center will be built in Łódź. This place will focus on very important Apache parts, especially the helicopter’s sensor systems. The work there will include repair and maintenance of the Generation 4 Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor and the LONGBOW Fire Control Radar. Lockheed Martin says this setup will mix its own experience with the workers and supply chain already available at WZL-1. The big idea is simple.

Lockheed Martin also said this local support model should help Poland’s Apache fleet stay mission-ready at a higher level. Faster repair work and quicker upgrades are expected to help the Polish Armed Forces use the aircraft when they are needed, instead of waiting too long for parts and service from outside the country. The company also said this project fits into a bigger goal of making allied defense industries stronger and helping NATO forces work better together.
“Lockheed Martin is honored to deepen our long-standing partnership with Poland, delivering advanced sensor and sustainment capabilities that strengthen the nation’s security and its vital role within NATO,” said Stacy Kubicek, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Sensors and Global Sustainment. “By working hand-in-hand with Poland’s defense industry, we’re supporting both Poland’s industrial base and fortifying the U.S. defense ecosystem.”
The plan also includes training and technology sharing for Polish workers. Lockheed Martin will give technical help and other support so that Apache sensor systems can be maintained inside Poland by local teams.

WZL-1 Role in Poland’s Defense Work
WZL-1 is part of the Polish Armaments Group and has many years of experience in aircraft and helicopter repair, modernization, and overhaul work. The company has facilities in Łódź and Dęblin and has worked for a long time in military and civilian aviation support.
Jacek A. Goszczyński, CEO of WZL-1, said the project would enhance operational readiness. “The conclusion of our executive offset agreements, enabling the implementation and execution of the transaction for Poland’s acquisition of 96 AH-64E combat helicopters, will allow for the establishment of an Industrial Service Center for Apache Helicopters in Poland, based on the specialized entity WZL-1 S.A. in Łódź and Dęblin. These capabilities will ensure the maintenance of a high level of operational availability of Apache helicopters in the Polish Armed Forces, which will translate into the security of our state.”
