Hensoldt Introduces New Variant of the Twinvis Passive Deployable Radar

Hensoldt, a German defense technology company, has introduced a new variant of its Twinvis passive deployable radar.

The new variant, dubbed Twinvis Military Sheltered, is entirely integrated into a containerized shelter and is capable of long-range aerial surveillance.

It is readily transportable on military transport vehicles and can be set up in the field by two personnel.

The radar also supports autonomous operations, eradicating the need for personnel on-site to operate it manually.

Hensoldt claims that the Twinvis functions as a receiver and locates targets by analyzing the reflected signals of third-party transmitters.

“Our fully automated, intelligent signal processing and sensor data fusion enables the military to conduct covert operations at long range against a wide variety of targets, including stealth threats,” a company representative, Markus Rothmaier, stated.

Enhanced Situational Awareness

The Twinvis passive radars manufactured by Hensoldt add a new dimension to the surveillance capabilities of military units.

It has numerous operational benefits, including the ability to remain undetected due to the lack of transmitted energy.

Such a characteristic renders the system nearly impossible to block or destroy in a targeted attack.

In addition, the Twinvis can detect covert adversary aircraft that are undetectable by conventional radar due to their low observable technology.
