Mopa Airport Gets Big Security Boost as CISF Adds Remote-Controlled Bomb Disposal Vehicle

A new remote-controlled bomb disposal vehicle has joined CISF at Mopa Airport in Goa, helping teams inspect suspicious objects more safely and respond faster without disturbing airport operations.

Mopa Airport Remote-Controlled Bomb Disposal Vehicle

Mopa Airport Remote-Controlled Bomb Disposal Vehicle: Security at Manohar International Airport in Mopa at Goa, has gotten stronger with the arrival of a new high-tech machine. On April 16, 2026, a Mini Remotely Operated Vehicle, also called MROV, was handed over to the CISF unit at the airport. The handover was done by GMR Goa International Airport Limited to the CISF Aviation Security Group at Mopa. This new system is meant to help make the airport safer and improve the way security teams deal with dangerous situations.

The MROV will mainly be used by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad. Its job is very important. If there is any suspicious bag or object, the machine can go near it and inspect it from a safe distance. This means security staff do not have to go too close right away. That lowers the risk for the team and helps them act faster during an emergency. It also helps the airport keep things under control without causing bigger trouble in daily operations.

Airport Safety

This new machine is a big help for a busy airport like Mopa. Airports have to stay alert all the time because they handle large numbers of passengers and flights. It supports remote checking of suspicious items and makes bomb disposal work more careful and efficient. That is why this step is being seen as an important upgrade for airport safety in Goa.

The handover also shows good teamwork between CISF and GGIAL. Senior officials from both sides were part of the event. That kind of coordination matters because airport safety depends on strong planning between the operator and the security force. When both sides work closely, it becomes easier to handle problems fast and protect passengers better.

A Fast-Growing Airport Gets Stronger

Mopa Airport is an important part of India’s aviation network. It is a greenfield airport in North Goa and is run by GMR Goa International Airport Limited. The airport was inaugurated in December 2022 and started flight operations on January 5, 2023.

The addition of the MROV fits into a bigger trend now seen at Indian airports. More airports are using smart and modern systems to deal with safety challenges. At Mopa, this new machine gives a real boost to the CISF bomb disposal team and adds one more layer of protection for passengers, airport staff and important airport assets.
