BSF Busts Smuggling Bid, Finds Weapons, Heroin and Multiple Drones

BSF troops recovered a pistol, large heroin packets and several drones, including a hexacopter, in strong action along the Punjab border. The quick operations badly disrupted cross-border smuggling attempts.

BSF Heroin recovery

BSF Heroin recovery: Over the last 24 hours, the BSF has caught drugs, weapons and drones in many actions near the Punjab border. These actions started after the BSF questioned two smugglers who were caught in Fazilka. The information from them led the BSF and Punjab Police to a joint raid at Chak Tahliwala. During this search, the team found 1 pistol, 4 magazines, 12 live bullets and 10 packets of heroin (gross weight around 5.445 kg).

These steps hit the smuggling groups very hard. But the BSF continued their strong actions. They focused even more on smugglers who use drones to carry drugs and weapons. In the fields of Tarn Taran district, the BSF also found a fully assembled Hexacopter drone, reported Wion.

During another deep search, the BSF found one DJI Air 3 drone and some pistol parts near the village Chak Allabaksh in the Amritsar sector. In a different place near Dhani Phoola Singh in the Fazilka sector, the BSF also found a DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone and one packet of heroin (gross weight 1.065 kg).

These quick and smart actions have scared the smuggling groups that use drones to move drugs and weapons across the border. To fight this danger, the BSF has made its security even stronger. They are now do more patrolling and watch the entire International Border with tighter checks.

How is BFS working towards Security?

Using drones for smuggling is not new, but it is very dangerous. The BSF is now using better technology to stop these high-tech drops. According to BSF data, they have made many similar recoveries before.  For example, the Tribune reported that this year BSF recovered 329 kg of heroin along Punjab’s border, more than last year.

Also, the BSF now uses “advanced technical countermeasures” to stop drones. This means they can disable or track drones before or after they drop things. In one earlier operation, BSF shot down six Pakistani drones and found 3 pistols and over 1 kg of heroin.

Smugglers are now using better drones like DJI Mavic and Air models that can fly high and sneak in over the border.Because of this, BSF has stepped up. They are using anti-drone systems, more patrols, and better intelligence.
