The Indian Coast Guard is poised to spearhead the 10th National Level Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX-X) along with the 27th National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOSDCP) and Preparedness Meeting.
Set for October 5-6 off Chennai’s coast in Tamil Nadu, the exercise seeks to assess and strengthen India’s response capability to marine oil spill incidents and efficiency in inter-agency coordination.
In a social media post, the Ministry of Defence stated, “@IndiaCoastGuard is gearing up for the 10th edition of NATPOLREX-X and the 27th NOSDCP review on October 5-6 off Chennai. This biennial exercise aims to evaluate and enhance national preparedness against marine oil spills and scrutinize inter-agency coordination.”

Previously, the Indian Coast Guard’s leadership, including Director General Paramesh Sivamani, attended the 4th Coast Guard Global Summit in Rome. Involving representatives from 115 nations, the summit focused on sharing best practices in Maritime Safety and Security, emphasizing pollution response and addressing transnational maritime crimes with advanced technology and international cooperation.
