Smaller Hypersonic BrahMos Missile: India and Russia are still working side by side on the BrahMos missile family. Recent reporting says Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov confirmed that the two countries are now looking at smaller BrahMos versions and also hypersonic versions.
These new missiles are meant to give India faster strike power, better reach, and more choice in how the weapon can be used on land, at sea, in the air, and even under the sea. What is BrahMos?
BrahMos is a joint India-Russia cruise missile project. It is known as a supersonic missile, which means it flies faster than sound. That makes it one of the most flexible weapons in India’s arsenal. The air-launched version, for example, has already been tested from the Indian Air Force’s Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, while the naval and submarine versions are also part of the system.
