RRP Defence-BEL Partnership: On May 21, 2026 RRP Defence won a new order from Bharat Electronics Limited, better known as BEL. The deal is worth about ₹29.8 crore, and the work is for high-precision germanium lenses. These are special parts used in infrared and thermal imaging systems.
These lenses are not ordinary glass pieces. They help machines see heat and detect things even in dark places, smoke, fog, or bad weather. Reports said they are used in thermal imaging, surveillance systems, weapon sights, target acquisition systems, and infrared detection equipment. The lenses also fit into BEL’s defence and security work, where clear imaging matters a lot.

The order was placed by BEL’s Machilipatnam Unit. The total value was reported as ₹29,83,81,230 plus GST. It covers optical lens items such as GE SF Lens 1 (Ø50X6.0) and GE SF Lens 2 (Ø26X4.5). Delivery is not one big dump. It will happen in steps. First, sample pieces will be sent for checking. After that, bulk supplies will begin. The first lot is expected 8 to 10 weeks after the order is received, and the full supply plan runs in phases until December 2026.
RRP Defence
RRP Defence works in advanced electro-optical systems and thermal imaging. The company makes things like thermal cameras, reflex sights, surveillance systems, and other defence-grade optical products. So this order gives it a bigger place in India’s defence supply chain, especially in precision optics and indigenous manufacturing.
BEL and RRP Partnership
This is not the first link-up between the two sides. On March 24, 2026, BEL signed a memorandum of understanding with RRP Electronics Limited and RRP Defense Limited. That agreement was for work in semiconductors, electro-optics, unmanned systems, and other advanced defence technologies. BEL said the plan was to develop high-precision EO systems such as surveillance systems and weapon sights, along with semiconductor devices and next-generation unmanned solutions. The RRP Group also said it wanted to strengthen India’s defence technology base through this partnership.

BEL described the MoU as a step toward stronger Indian defence capabilities. The company also said the RRP Group brings semiconductor strength, EO expertise, and UAV platform skills into the mix. RRP Group, based in Navi Mumbai, works across semiconductors, defence, advanced aerospace systems, thermal imaging, and autonomous aerial systems.
