Norway Patria 6×6 Vehicles: Norway has placed an order for 20 Patria 6×6 armoured vehicles as part of the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme. The vehicles will be used in the C2 Command and Control version. They will also be fitted with Kongsberg PROTECTOR RS4 Remote Weapon Stations.
The order also covers training, spare parts and other support needed to operate the vehicles. Norway has also kept an option for 40 more C2 vehicles with the same PROTECTOR RS4 weapon stations. The first vehicles are expected to be delivered in 2026.
What will Norway get?
The Patria 6×6 is a modern armoured vehicle made for troop transport and other military support tasks. Its design can be changed for different missions. Patria says the vehicle offers good protection and high mobility while being simple and suitable for larger fleet purchases.

The PROTECTOR RS4 is a remote weapon station made by Kongsberg. It can be controlled from inside the vehicle, allowing soldiers to use the weapon system without standing outside and exposing themselves to danger. Kongsberg has said the RS4 has advanced sensors and can support different weapons. It can also be upgraded with counter-drone features.
Norway’s decision also means its CAVS vehicles will use the same weapon station setup already being introduced for other CAVS users. A common setup can make training, spare parts and maintenance easier between countries.
Why is the CAVS Programme Important
CAVS began in 2020 through cooperation between Finland and Latvia. The programme is built around the Patria 6×6 and is designed so European and NATO countries can work together on the purchase and support of armoured vehicles. Norway joined the programme in 2025 together with the United Kingdom.
The programme now has seven members: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and the United Kingdom. Patria has already delivered vehicles to Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark and Germany. CAVS vehicles are also being used operationally in Ukraine.
Patria said the programme has now received orders for almost 2,000 Patria 6×6 vehicles and more than 400 have been delivered as of August 2026. The common system is meant to help countries buy vehicles faster, share equipment and make long-term support easier.
