Operation Sindoor Anniversary: India marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor in Jaipur with a hard warning to terror groups and anyone helping cross-border attacks. The second edition of the Joint Commanders’ Conference was held on May 7 to 8 under the theme “Military Capability in New Domains.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan were there too. The Ministry of Defence said the meeting would look at cyber, space and cognitive warfare, and also push “Aatmanirbharta” in defence production.

Why Operation Sindoor Began?
Operation Sindoor started on May 7, 2025 after the Pahalgam terror attack. The Ministry of Defence said the Indian Armed Forces hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and that nine sites were targeted. The Foreign Secretary later said 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack, including one national of Nepal.
The Army, Navy, and Air Force
Senior officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force said the operation was not the end of India’s answer to terrorism. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said Operation Sindoor was “not an end, but just the beginning.” He also said, “Today, over 65% of our defence equipment is being manufactured domestically,” and called self-reliance a force multiplier. He added that India would defend its sovereignty and security “decisively, professionally and with the utmost responsibility.”

Air Marshal Avdhesh Kumar Bharti said every terror act would now have a cost, and said the operation showed India could do tri-service action with speed and accuracy. Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod said the strikes also showed how India handled strategic pressure and did not bend to nuclear threats used as a tool of fear.
The conference also focused on what war may look like next. Officials spoke about cyber warfare, unmanned systems, artificial intelligence and space-based intelligence. They also showed future defence ideas and new operating plans for coming battlefields.
