Regulations of drones: A top official made a case on Tuesday for the domestic growth of the drone ecosystem by stating that the civil aviation ministry will consider creating separate regulatory frameworks for drones used for industrial and civilian uses. Additionally, Vumlunmang Vualnam, the secretary of civil aviation, emphasized that the government will work to enhance both advanced air transportation and drone use.
“Moving forward, there will be differentiated regulations for drones with ‘civilian, industrial, and public use’ and ‘law and order and defence use’,” Vualnam said, adding that they would ensure both are promoted and supported in the best possible way.
He declared that “much has been done and more will be done” about drone restrictions while giving a speech at the national conference on drones held in the nation’s capital.
He mentioned that the ministry is considering establishing various regulations for industrial and civilian drones.

Vualnam stated at the industry body CII’s conference that the program has been effective and that the ministry is looking into methods to work with other government agencies to jointly encourage the manufacturing of drones and drone parts.
Additionally, he stated unequivocally that the drone business should be self-sustaining and not rely on subsidies.
He stated that details for the drones under the Namo Drone Didi Scheme will be released shortly.
The program’s goal is to provide agricultural drones to women who live in rural areas, and 15,000 drones will go to female-led self-help groups.
The secretary emphasized that India is significantly dependent on imports when it comes to drone parts. “We will interact with DPIIT, Ministry of Finance to see how the drone manufacturers and component manufacturers are equally incentivised,” the secretary added.
