Indian border security: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared on Monday that maintaining India’s border will always be the top priority and that efforts will be made to push defence exports and manufacturing to new heights, soon after he was reappointed to lead the important role in the new administration. Singh was one of the prominent BJP officials who kept their portfolios from the previous government, along with Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, S Jaishankar, and Nirmala Sitharaman.

Singh made this claim during a border dispute with China that has lasted more than four years along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

As India’s defense minister since 2019, Singh has done many creative things to improve the country’s defense and strengthen it in case of war with China.

He was responsible for the Defense Ministry’s aggressive plan to improve border infrastructure. This made it much easier for the military to be sent to dangerous places more quickly.

During his term as the Minister of Defence, India enhanced its maritime capabilities in the vital waterways within the Indian Ocean region.

In the most recent general election, Singh won the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat for a record third time.

Along with strengthening the nation’s military readiness, the next administration will prioritize improving vital infrastructure in border regions.

The Indian defence ministry has set a goal to increase defence exports to Rs 50,000 crore over the next five and a half years after they crossed the Rs 21,000 crore mark for the first time in 2023–2024.

The government has implemented several initiatives to support homegrown defence manufacturing in the past few years.

India is among the world’s top importers of weaponry.

By 2029, the Indian armed forces must spend almost USD 130 billion on capital acquisition.

The government has encouraged the Indigenous defence industry to lessen its reliance on foreign military platforms.

In the next five years, the defense ministry wants to see a USD 25 billion (about Rs 1.75 lakh crore) turnover in defense production.

The position of Minister of State in the defence ministry has been awarded to Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth.

Seth was a Standing Committee on Information Technology member before he was elected a Ranchi MP in 2019.

He was elected from Ranchi once more in the most recent Lok Sabha elections.
