In an impressive ceremony held at Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Material, Indian Navy, commissioned INS Tarmugli, a Fast Attack Craft (FAC). The ship is a Trinkat Class FAC gifted to the Maldivian Naval Defence Forces (MNDF) in 2006.

Upon returning to the Naval Dockyard in May of this year, the ship underwent extensive restoration work and was reincarnated into its current form as a result of extensive restoration work. With its advanced MTU engines, water jet propulsion, advanced communication equipment, a 30mm gun, and a sophisticated radar system, the warship will be extensively used for coastal surveillance and protection of our Offshore Development Areas in the KG Basin and along the East Coast of India.

The 320-tonne INS Tarmugli, measuring 48 meters in length, can reach speeds in excess of 30 knots and was named after a picturesque island in the Andaman group.
