DRDO Cyber Breach Claims: The Ministry of Defence has pushed back strongly against reports saying the Defence Research and Development Organisation, or DRDO, was hit by a cyberattack. Officials said those reports are “incorrect and unverified,” and added that a full check by the concerned agencies found no sign of any active cyberattack, no unauthorised entry into DRDO networks, and no ongoing data theft.
The issue came up after some reports claimed DRDO-related data was being sold on the dark web. But the ministry said the material being shared is old, mostly unclassified, and not linked to DRDO’s present systems.

What was found in the Investigation?
According to official sources, the suspicious files were checked in detail. The probe found no proof of a successful cyber intrusion into DRDO’s systems. It also found that the data being talked about does not match current DRDO operations, configurations, or records.
Officials also said some of the files being shown as new were actually tied to an older incident from 2020 to 2022. They said the papers had been changed in a way that made them look recent and important, even though they were not. Many of them had gone through several revisions over time.

The ministry said the same data set was being offered by more than one threat actor, which was another sign that the information was not new. Officials believe the main goal was money. By making old material look fresh and secret, the actors may have tried to scare people and attract buyers on dark web markets.

Earlier, DRDO sources had said they were checking the authenticity of the claims after a Kerala-based cybersecurity group said alleged DRDO data had appeared on the dark web. After that review, the Defence Ministry made its stand clear: there is no confirmed DRDO cyber breach, and the reports are false and unverified.
